Congratulations on being assigned as an Advocate on Bright Breaks! This article will help you understand your role and how to make the most out of the features you have access to.
You now have a powerful engagement tool at your fingertips. Use this feature to engage your colleagues in well-being through challenges and quests on Bright Breaks!
What can I do as an Advocate? #
As an Advocate you can:
- Run challenges or quests for the organization members assigned to you. This could be the entire organization or a specific group or department.
- Access promotional materials to communicate challenges and quests to the participants
- Access Challenge and Quest participation data
Prizing for your challenges and quests depend on what is provided to you by your organization. Please communicate with the person who assigned you as an Advocate to discuss prizes.
How do I Set up Challenges or Quests? #
Step 1 – Access the Challenges page of the Champion Portal
Head to the link provided in your invitation email to access the Challenges section of the Champion Portal you have access to. You can also access it via the three orange horizontal lines in the upper right hand corner after you log into Bright Breaks.
Step 2 – Click ‘New Challenge’
Step 3 – Select a Challenge Template
Choose a challenge or quest that aligns with your engagement goals.
A challenge encourages participants to earn points for taking live or on-demand breaks, or accumulate steps if your organization has access to the Step Challenge feature. Individual or team participation is possible.
A quest tasks participants with taking a certain amount of breaks in specific categories to complete it. Quests are individual participation only, as in only individuals will appear on the leaderboard as opposed to teams being able to be formed.
Take note of the ‘Rules’ at the top of the template, this will let you know the point system or quest requirements.
Step 4 – Set Up Your Challenge or Quest Details
- Define your Challenge: Select the start and end dates, Edit the Title, and Challenge Description, and Image
- The fields will be pre-populated with content that are suggestions to give you a starting place from, feel free to switch things up and make it your own as you see fit!
- Replace the image if you like – the ideal dimensions 608 x 660 px
- You can click the ‘Preview’ button anytime to see how the leaderboard will look that the participants will be able to see
- Challenge Incentives: Edit the Prize Title and Prize Description
- Prize description: Please communicate with the person who assigned you as an advocate about prizing, prizes are not supplied directly from Bright Breaks unless purchased and permitted for Advocate use by your organization.
- Ensure you describe how winners will be selected and how many winners there will be.
- Set Challenge Participants
- If a challenge, determine if on an individual basis or a challenge with two or more teams
- For individual participation challenge or quest:
- Determine if you would like the participation to be restricted to a specific group of organization members. If you want it open to all those within your scope as an Advocate ensure visibility is selected as ‘No’. If you would like it to be open to only a selected group, select ‘Yes’, click ‘Manage Participants’ and enter the email addresses of those you would like the challenge or quest to be open to.
- For a team challenge:
- Select ‘Team’
- Select if random or manually assigned team
- If random, Bright Breaks members from your possible participants will be assigned randomly and automatically if they have taken a break in the last 30 days or once they take their first break during the challenge
- If manually assigned, manage teams by naming teams and adding email addresses of those who you assign to each team
- Please ensure the email addresses are correct and the same email address participants would use to log in with Bright Breaks – if you get a warning message that you are adding an email address not within your scope or not a current member you know already uses Bright Breaks, contact the person who assigned you an as Advocate to double check you have the correct email address for your participants.
- Participants do not need to be signed up for the Bright Breaks account before the challenge to participate – they can sign up anytime during the challenge!
- Remove or add teams as you need
- Team members can be switched and teams can be added to at any point during the challenge, including after it is published.
Step 5 – Publish Your Challenge or Quest
- Click ‘Preview’ to make sure your challenge or quest details are correct. The Leaderboard being in an empty state is expected until the Challenge or Quest begins and there are participants
- For team challenge, the teams will not appear on the leaderboard until the challenge begins
- Click ‘Publish’ when ready.
- A pop-up will appear with a link to dynamic scripts and a Canva template to help you promote your Challenge or Quest.
- Once the challenge or quest is published, it will appear for those who are set to have it visible to them, in the Challenges section of Bright Breaks found at brightbreaks.com/challenges in ‘Upcoming Challenges’ until it begins.
- Note that no automated messaging is sent from Bright Breaks to your org members to announce the challenge
Step 6 – Promote & Track Participation
- After you publish your challenge or quest, a pop-up will appear with a link to a set of dynamic scripts, containing the details you provided, and a Canva image for you to help promote internally
- You can also access these promo materials anytime by clicking ‘Promo’ on the challenge in the Champion Portal in Challenges tab under ‘My Challenges’.
- Download a .csv of the challenge or quest participation metrics anytime during or after the challenge or quest by clicking ‘Results’
- See the leaderboard at any point by clicking ‘Preview’ or simply by navigating to brightbreaks.com/challenges
